The enhanced cooperation between Australia and Fiji through the Vuvale partnership is generating training and empowerment opportunities with Fiji’s media relations and strategic communications.
The “Media and Strategic Communications Essentials” training was organised this week through a collaboration between the Australian High Commission and the Fijian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 3 days training was conducted for 60 senior and working level staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including 11 other ministries and agencies that the Ministry works closely with in terms of its deliverables.
At the official closing of the training program held at the Australian High Commission in Suva last night, the participants were recognized through a certificate presentation by the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Mr John Feakes and Minister for Foreign Affairs, National Security and Defence, Hon. Inia Seruiratu.
In his closing remarks, Australian High Commissioner Feakes emphasized the significance of having this training to enhance the media and strategic communications for the participating agencies. He also reaffirmed Australia’s support towards Fiji’s efforts in providing such skills and competency training programs.
Minister Seruiratu commended the Australian Government for its commitment towards enhancing Fiji’s development goals. He also acknowledged the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Mr John Feakes for his great leadership in strengthening Fiji-Australia collaborations. He said that the Vuvale Partnership is important in its relevance to the changes in geopolitics and dynamics of development in the region.
The training provided an interactive platform for the participants to gain comprehensive understanding of the dynamic roles of modern media and its importance in promoting diplomacy. It also provided practical learning on principles of strategic communications and campaigns, crisis communications, media networking, creating media products, and the use of digital media platforms.
