The 53rd Fiji Day celebrations held nationwide today commenced on a high note with families and friends gathered in large numbers at the Albert Park in Suva for the main celebrations.
The program began with march procession from Suva Flea Market to Albert Park and then the trooping of colors and parade by the discipline forces.
Civil servants of ministries and departments, school students, teachers and parents, and representatives from the government and non-government organisations, participated in the friendly march.
The celebrations was attended by the President, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, Prime Minister, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, cabinet ministers, permanent secretaries and members of the diplomatic corps, and general public.
In his remarks, President Katonivere highlighted the importance of the theme for Fiji Day, “Rebuilding Fiji Together.”
The celebrations was an opportunity to strengthen our national solidarity and reaffirm our commitment to the development and prosperity of our beloved nation.
It marked a special occasion for citizens to take pride in celebrating Fiji’s national achievements and reassert our commitment to build “a prosperous, strong and resilient nation.”
It recognized the unified Fiji, we are rebuilding through the exemplary leadership of the People’s Coalition Government through the restoration of freedom and equality, public confidence, economic sustainability, cultural diversity and inclusivity at every level of development.
The celebrations highlighted the development priorities for our nation and the way forward to “Rebuilding Fiji Together” by working together in #unity, #peace and #harmony.
On this special occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Team on behalf of the Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, the Assistant Minister Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua and Fiji Missions abroad would like to wish all the families in Fiji and abroad a “Happy Fiji Day”.
