H.E. Ambassador Mr. Amenatave Vakasavuwaqa Yauvoli presented his Letter of Credence to Indonesia’s President, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The ceremony marked the commencement of Ambassador Yauvoli’s diplomatic responsibilities aimed at fostering bilateral relations between Fiji and Indonesia. Over the past three decades, the two countries have maintained a robust relationship, providing mutual support in various regional and international forums. Notably, recent collaborations include the signing of two grant agreements, one dedicated to bolstering Fiji’s education sector and the other aimed at providing humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the Embassy of Fiji operates an Honorary Consul facility in Surabaya City, inaugurated in 2019 by the then-Minister of Social Affairs, Lady Mayor Tri Rishmaharini. During the ceremony, adherence to health protocols was observed, with all seven ambassadors wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing measures.
