The President of the Republic of India, Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, as part of her three-day state visit to Fiji, met with the Indian diaspora community in Fiji.

A bilateral meeting convened between the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka and the President of the Republic of India, Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, signified a landmark achievement in the advancement of diplomatic relations and cooperation between Fiji and India.
The leaders engaged in productive discussions on various issues of mutual interest and benefit to both Fiji and India.
Following their meeting, President Murmu and Prime Minister Rabuka presided over a ceremony for handing over of documents for allocation of project sites for the following projects as follows:
- 100 Bed Super Specialty Cardiology Hospital, Suva
- Indian High Commission Chancery and Indian Cultural Centre Complex in Suva.
The implementation of these two projects represent a new chapter in the bilateral relations between Fiji and India.
Prime Minister Rabuka acknowledged the Government of India’s timely support for these projects and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to further advance cooperation with the Government of India in important areas of development, including health, education, and agriculture, amongst others.
He thanked President Murmu for her first State visit to Fiji to further strengthen the longstanding relations and friendly ties between the two nations.
The construction of the 100 Bed Super Specialty Cardiology Hospital project will be a significant elevation of Fiji’s healthcare services through the provision of specialized medical and cardiology services that will be accessed by ordinary Fijians in particular and the Pacific region as a whole.The second initiative is expected to bolster diplomatic ties and facilitate greater collaboration between the two nations on various regional and global issues.
The successful outcome of the bilateral meeting reflects the shared vision of both the leaders to build a resilient, stronger and more prosperous future for their countries.
The first Indian State visit by President Murmu to Fiji from 5-7 August this week, is a momentous occasion in the history of Fiji-India relations.
