Agreement Cultivates Stronger Cooperation for Fiji’s Development Programs

Fiji had the opportunity to showcase the Fijian Made Products through the International Mediterranean Tourism Market 2019 Exhibition, which attracted more than 50,000 visitors from many parts of the world.
The Exhibition that was held in Tel Aviv last month in Israel provided the Fiji’s Embassy in Addis Ababa with the unique opportunity to promote Fijian made products as well as Fiji as a tourism destination.
Led by Counselor Ropate Cabealawa, the Fiji delegation displayed booth decorated with a beautifully designed masi as a backdrop, beautiful array of hand woven Fijian fans, various sizes and shapes of wooden war clubs, miniature hand crafted tanoas with a video display showing the picturesque sights and the beautiful sounds of Fiji surrounded by sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, long winding white water rivers and natural dark thick forests.
The Fijian made items on display included locally made products and an assortment of Fiji tourism industry information brochures.
Interests generated over Fiji as a tourism destination and for Fijian made products were immense with great potentials to secure linkages with international tourism organisations.
With such a huge interests being generated, the Fijian display booth was no doubt a major hit and quite popular with the visitors to the Exhibition and Conference Center. Fiji Water, Pure Fiji products, the blue Fiji flag and the melodious bula voices of Fiji’s peacekeeping troops serving under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) were Fiji’s major unique selling points of its popularity during the exhibition and in the Mediterranean countries.
The international tourism market is the largest annual professional official exhibition for the tourism market in Israel, which promotes both domestic and foreign tourism as well as strengthening cooperation among tourism agencies around the world.
The Fiji Embassy Addis Ababa used this opportunity to introduce Fiji’s tourism and business sectors to the potential investors from around the world and it was a platform to showcase Fijian made products, to create awareness and portray the beauty of the Fiji’s art and culture to forge tourism and business links and partnerships with potential tourists and investors.
