In a collaborative effort, the Fijian diaspora community in Port Moresby accorded High Commissioner Evans a full traditional ceremony of welcome.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Evans thanked the Fijian diaspora for the kind gesture and hospitality, reaffirming his commitment to further deepen bilateral relations and cooperation between Fiji and PNG. In his new posting, High Commissioner Evans will also be accredited to Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
He extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Fijian diaspora for their continued support to the work of the Fiji High Commission, underscoring the significance of people to people and cultural ties that unites Fiji and the region as the Pacific Vuvale.
On the same note, High Commissioner Evans acknowledged the contributions of this predecessor the late Mosese Tikoitoga who passed away in December 2023; and also expressed his appreciation to the Fiji High Commission staff for their dedication and loyalty in ably representing Fiji in his absence.

As the new Head of Fiji’s Mission in PNG, High Commissioner Evans is optimistic that the two nations will continue to work closely for the prosperity of both the nations and its peoples, further elevating the diplomatic relations established way back in 1975.
