Ganesh Utsav Promotes Message of Peace and Solidarity

Fiji Sevashram Sangha’s Ganesh Utsav 2021 inauguration was held virtually last night to commence the 22nd national program which begins today, Saturday 11th to Sunday 19th September.

The program was officiated by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister and Acting Permanent Secretary Foreign Affairs, Yogesh Karan and the Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Palaniswamy Subramanyan Karthigeyan.

Mr Karan recognised Fiji Sevashram Sangha’s commitment to organise the Ganesh Utsav, a program which has over the years united communities of various faiths by promoting the values of cultural harmony, mutual respect and appreciation of diverse cultures.

He said when people of diverse cultures come together in unity for common good, then prosperity and peace thrives, and Fiji stands in solidarity as one nation and we remain steadfast in our commitment to achieve sustainable and resilient societies.

Mr Karan acknowledged Fiji Sevashram Sangha and their leaders for their contributions to Fiji’s national development through provisions of sociocultural programs, academic opportunities for students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and for their work in reaching out to families in need of assistance.

In its recent initiative, Fiji Sevashram Sangha mobilised assistance through COVID relief supplies, building materials and educational supplies have been provided to families in the aftermath of TC Yasa and TC Ana.

He expressed his appreciation to organisations who have come forward to assist and complement the efforts of the Fijian Government to achieve economic recovery and revive the livelihood of families.

Mr Karan extended the best wishes of Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama to Fiji Sevashram Sangha for 2021 Ganesh Utsav and the initiatives taken by the Sevashram in support of Fiji’s national development.

Fiji Sevashram Sangha commended Mr. Karan for his exemplary service as a volunteer at the Sevashram since its establishment in 2000.

High Commissioner Karthigeyan said Fiji and India share a special bond and the collaboration has continued to strengthen over the years. He conveyed his appreciation to Fiji Sevashram Sangha for their service to the nation and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Swami Sanyuktanand, president of Fiji Sevashram Sangha said the organisation stands in solidarity with the Fijian Government and its efforts to rebuild our nation and return to normalcy. He paid tribute to all the frontline workers in Fiji for their tireless service and he emphasised on the importance of working together as a nation to win the battle against the pandemic.
