Fiji will welcome Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess of Denmark Mary Elizabeth for her first official visit to our shores from Tuesday 25th to Thursday 27th April.
The Fiji Government is looking forward to host this historic visit which demonstrates Denmark’s unwavering support and partnership with Fiji and the Pacific.
The Crown Princess will be accompanied by Denmark’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Dan Jørgensen.
The visit coincides with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UNFPA Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem’s official mission to Fiji next week.
During her visit, The Crown Princess will meet with the senior Government officials and pursue discussions on issues of importance to Fiji and the Pacific region.
The visit will provide opportunities to strengthen mutual cooperation on key development priorities such as climate change, women and girl empowerment, health and awareness.
The Crown Princess had been patron of the UNFPA since 2010.
She is a passionate advocate for the health, gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. This High Level visit will build on the concerted effort needed to mobilise greater level of support for small island states most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and promote the empowerment of women and girls. This commitment concurs with Denmark’s candidature for the UN’s Security Council which reiterates the need for small developing states to have a strong voice in the global climate negotiations and in matters pertaining to International peace and security.
The Crown Princess Mary’s visit to the region begins in Vanuatu, then to Fiji and Australia.
