#Fiji and #Indonesia’s cooperation in common development goals was acknowledged at the commemoration of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
The program organised by the Indonesian Embassy in Suva this evening, with the theme, “Recover Faster, Rise Stronger” was attended by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere and Madame First Lady, Adi Filomena Katonivere, the Honourable Prime Minister, Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama and Mrs Mary Bainimarama, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Her Excellency Retno Marsudi, and Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Fiji, His Excellency, Benyamin Carnadi.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief of Protocol, Mr Jiko Rasoqosoqo congratulated and conveyed Fiji’s best wishes to Government and the People of the Republic of Indonesia, on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
Mr Rasoqosoqo acknowledged the friendship between Fiji and Indonesia over the years which has continued to strengthened and deepened in all areas of cooperation. He said the presence of Her Excellency Retno Marsudi in our midst for a two day goodwill visit signifies the warmth and strength of our excellent relationship. He said Fiji has benefitted tremendously from Indonesia over the years and looks forward to a more enhanced #partnership in the years to come.
The Prime Minister – Honourable Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama in his Congratulatory Message to the President of the Republic of Indonesia acknowledged that Fiji and Indonesia have progressively engaged in various areas of mutual priority which has greatly contributed to our sustainable and #resilient development. Prime Minister Bainimarama further conveyed the Fijian government’s appreciation on Indonesia’s support in COVID-19 recovery efforts and looks forward to working together on future opportunities for #partnership and #cooperation, including through capacity building and exchange programmes that promote our aspirations.
