The Ministry of Foreign Affairs team representing the Ministers, Fiji Missions abroad and officials at the Ministry headquarters paid their final respects to the family of Ms Miliakere Tukana, affectionately known to colleagues as ‘Mili’, who was called to eternal rest on Friday (25.8.23).
Following the presentation of the Ministry’s reguregu on Thursday (24.8.23), officials of the Ministry joined Miliakere’s family and friends at the church service held at her residence in Suva to celebrate her life. On behalf of the Ministry, Counsellor Ravai Antonio delivered the eulogy and paid tribute to Miliakere for her steadfast commitment, sacrifice and loyal service to the nation, during her tenure at the Ministry where she served diligently for 10 years and 6 months.
Miliakere gave her best years as a loyal civil servant upon joining the Ministry on 4th February 2013, following her stint at Airports Fiji Limited.
Miliakere served at various sections of the Ministry before taking up the role of Executive Assistant at the Roving Ambassador’s Division in 2016.
In November 2017, she was promoted to Secretary for the Roving Ambassador Division and served at the unit until her passing.
Miliakere is remembered for her patience, humility, and professionalism with which she carried her role with diligence and dedication. The late Miliakere was laid to rest at the Suva New Extension Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Mr Jitoko Cecere and their three children.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
