Being Fiji’s window to the world and gateway to boost its international relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is striving to achieve excellence by developing the competency and enhancing the capabilities of its staff through the regular training programs.
During the two days induction training organised this week at the Ministry’s headquarters in Suva, the 23 staff who have joined the Ministry last year and this year had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understanding about the Ministry’s Strategic Plan 2018 to 2022 and Operational Plan 2018 to 2019 and its alignment to the Fiji’s 5 to 20 year National Development Plan.
Apart from presentations on the Ministry’s strategic plan, programs, corporate services, protocol services, financial regulations and overall operations, there were also interactive sessions on the civil service values and code of conduct, civil service reforms, budget processes and parliament roles. Speaking at the official opening of the Induction Program, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Major General (Ret’d) Ioane Naivalurua reminded the staff of their roles to serve with integrity to promote Fiji’s best interests both nationally and internationally. He said that given the Ministry’s dynamic role to coordinate both offshore and onshore programs, it demands commitment and decisive actions by the team to maximize the returns on the investment.
