Core Roles of Fiji Missions Overseas
All Fiji Diplomatic Missions are led by a Head of Mission officially referred to as an Ambassador (for non-Commonwealth countries) and High Commissioner (for Commonwealth countries).
The core roles and functions of the Fiji Missions overseas revolve around the following basic principles:
- Strengthen the bilateral relations between Fiji and accredited countries and organisations.
- Promote Fiji’s foreign policies through participation at the United Nations and other International Organizations in line with the accreditation.
- Represent and advance Fiji’s interests in all engagements in the accredited countries and organisations.
- Facilitate active engagements and friendly cooperation between Fiji and the accredited countries and organisations.
- Develop socio-economic programmes that will maximize return on investment for Fiji.
- Promote cultural and public diplomacy in the accredited countries and organisations.
- Promote and safeguard Fiji’s diaspora interest in the accredited countries including provision of Consular Services – processing of Visas, Passports and Emergency Documents.
