A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the Fijian Government and the Indonesian Government yesterday for rehabilitation works at Tailevu’s Queen Victoria School.
Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister Mr Yogesh Karan signed the agreement on behalf of the Fijian Government with Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations H.E Dian Triansyah Djani along the margins of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Queen Victoria School was among 166 other schools in the country that was damaged by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston in February, 2016.
The MOA will allow the Indonesian Government to continue rehabilitation works at the school.
Mr Karan said the Fijian Government was indeed grateful to the Indonesian Government for its great assistance.
Fiji and Indonesia have a long-standing relationship. Such a relationship has not only allowed progress in the trade sector but also education.
Fijian students have also benefitted from this relationship after completing their higher education studies at some of Indonesia’s top universities.
Meanwhile, the Bainimarama-led Government will ensure that rehabilitation works which is expected soon at QVS will be built to higher standard.
