Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister, Immigration and Sugar Industry and acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr Yogesh Karan received a courtesy call from the new Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Kawakami Fumihiro in his office yesterday.
Mr Karan, on behalf of the Prime Minister, conveyed the Fijian Government’s well wishes to Ambassador Fumihiro for his new diplomatic role and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment towards further advancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
Discussions at the meeting also focused on potential areas of collaboration which include our COVID-19 crisis response efforts and support towards the health, education and infrastructure sectors to name just a few.
Ambassador Fumihiro, in response acknowledged the warm hospitality accorded to him upon his arrival.
He added that he is grateful to the Fijian Government for its support in pursing shared values and development aspirations to enhance our relationship.
