The Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, Mr Henry Puna congratulated Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka and commended him for his unwavering commitment to advance regional solidarity of the Pacific family- through vast experiences and political agility that our new Prime Minister brings to the Pacific Islands Forum as a Pacific Leader and Head of Government and more so, as the Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum.
On behalf of the Forum, Mr Puna welcomed Prime Minister Rabuka and they look forward for our Prime Minister’s guidance in advancing the aspirations of the Pacific family.
In a congratulatory letter, Mr. Puna said Fiji continues to be a remarkable leader in the region and most recently, has been instrumental in the development of the region’s long term political strategy and vision now known as the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.
Mr Puna said, “Fiji’s recent efforts at the regional level is a testament to the robust and able capacity of your senior officials’ and I take this opportunity to again commend and acknowledge their support to the Secretariat and their leadership across a range of regional initiatives.”
“I am in no doubt of the complexities and challenges before you as a nation and I remain confident in your leadership and your Government to work constructively and conscientiously to address and overcome these challenges.
“In saying so, allow me to also reaffirm with you th
e ongoing support of the Pacific Islands Forum and its Secretariat to working with you and our Members’ towards collective solutions to common challenges across the region,” Mr Puna said.
