Fijian Prime Minister, Honourable Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama received a farewell courtesy call from the High Commissioner of Solomon Islands, His Excellency William Soaki today.
Prime Minister Bainimarama conveyed the Fijian Government’s appreciation to High Commissioner Soaki for his commitment in enhancing the bilateral relations between the two nations in areas of shared interests and priorities.
On the importance of regional solidarity, Prime Minister Bainimarama said the strength of the Blue Pacific is in the collective efforts and aspirations to progressively rebuild and recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.
In reaffirming Fiji’s commitment to advance engagements with the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Vuvale, Prime Minister Bainimarama said working together in unity at all levels is paramount in advancing regional prosperity.
The Head of the Fijian Government also acknowledged the Government of Solomon Islands for its collaborations with Fiji at this time of need and for the support it has rendered to Fijian nationals in the Solomon Islands.
Prime Minister Bainimarama conveyed the best wishes of the Fijian Government and the people of Fiji to High Commissioner Soaki for his future endeavors.
In response High Commissioner Soaki expressed his appreciation to the Fijian Government for its support during his tenure as a diplomat in Fiji.
High Commissioner William Soaki was appointed as Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Fiji in 2018. Prior to that, High Commissioner Soaki was the Solomon Islands Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade from 2015 to 2018.
