The Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka commenced his official visit to Brussels, Belgium yesterday with a focus on further strengthening Fiji’s ties with the European Union and the Indo-Pacific regions.
Upon arrival, he was received by Ambassador Luke Daunivalu and First Secretary Shanil Dayal of the Fiji Permanent Mission to the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland- the accredited mission to Brussels.
As part of his program, PM Rabuka visited the Fiji House to inspect the once-fully operational diplomatic office which was closed down about two years ago.
On site, he inspected the facility where he was briefed on its current status and future plans.
Following the tour, Ambassador Daunivalu provided Prime Minister Rabuka with insights into the upcoming 3rd EU Indo Pacific Ministerial Forum, delving into the details of his two-day program.
Today, Prime Minister Rabuka is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Pacific Day event, further solidifying Fiji’s presence on the global stage.
Additionally, he is expected to meet with the OACPS Secretary-General,Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, followed by a welcome dinner, to be hosted by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mr Josep Borrell.
Foreign Ministers of the 27 EU Member States and representatives of some 30 countries in the Indo-Pacific region and distinguished guests are expected to attend the welcome dinner ahead of the Ministerial Forum on Friday.
