Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka meets with the Fijian community in Brisbane

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has assured Fijians living in Brisbane that the Coalition Government will work closely with the Australian Government under the Vuvale
Partnership to address key issues affecting them.
PM Rabuka met with members of the Fijian community last night and informed them that the revised and elevated partnership is expected to further enhance Fiji’s relationship with Australia. A traditional ceremony of welcome was accorded to the Prime Minister and his delegation followed by a talanoa session with the Fijian community.
Also present at the event was a group of seasonal workers who are presently in Australia under the Fiji-Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme.
The workers voiced their concerns directly to the Prime Minister, claiming employment breach to which he assured that Fiji is working closely with Australia to further boost our cooperation in the area of labour mobility. Fiji, through the High Commission in Canberra, has appointed liasion officers who will be assisting seasonal workers throughout Australia.
Hon. Rabuka also took the opportunity to update those present about government’s national development plans and progress.
He acknowledged their contributions back home and also to the government of Australia.
