Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka this afternoon expressed his heartfelt gratitude to civil servants under his portfolio for their sacrifices, tireless efforts and dedication in serving the people of our great nation.
In his address during the inter-ministry Thanksgiving and Christmas Service at Suva’s Centenary Church, PM Rabuka highlighted that the contributions of civil servants remain the foundation of Fiji’s progress.
“Some people may not see how hard you work and may not acknowledge your efforts, but I am here as Head of Government to thank you all for your service to the nation,” said the PM.
“Like a building under construction, where people admire the final structure but rarely see the effort behind the scenes—the dirt, sand, gravel, and reinforcements that form its solid foundation—you, our civil servants, are the important base of the civil service.”
The PM stressed that every role within the civil service matters, “from clerks to those who verify the various stages of the processes, you all play important roles in the operations of government”.
The Head of the Coalition Government took the opportunity to highlight the significance of Christmas, describing it as a time of reconciliation between God and man.
In this regard, he urged civil servants to reflect on their journey, learn from their experiences and renew their commitment to public service.
“Let this Christmas be an opportunity to strengthen our resolve, deepen our compassion, and renew our dedication to serving our people with integrity, humility, and purpose,” he concluded.
The church service was attended by members of the Fiji Police Force, staff from the Office of the Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs, Civil Service, Information and Archives, Public Enterprise, Immigration, and Environment and Climate Change.
