
Prime Minister Rabuka and Solomon Islands Counterpart discuss potential areas to strengthen bilateral relations and regional cooperation

The Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka met with the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Honourable Mark Brown.
The meeting took place on margins of the TROIKA Leaders Meeting held yesterday at Nadi’s Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort.
Prime Minister Rabuka acknowledged the bilateral relations and collaboration between the two nations which has gained momentum after the signing of the Development Cooperation in 2023.
He reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to further deepen the engagements as the two nations work progressively on the implementation of the Development Cooperation.
Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka emphasised the need for regional solidarity to navigate through issues of importance to the Pacific region and to advance shared commitment on regional peace, security and prosperity.
The two leaders also discussed opportunities for future cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, air connectivity, climate actions and oceans, and people to people links.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the bilateral and regional cooperation between the two nations.
Cook Islands and Fiji have enjoyed amicable relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1998. The relations have been further advanced through the establishment of the Cook Islands High Commission in 2022.
