Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister, Immigration and Sugar Industry and Acting Permanent Secretary Foreign Affairs, Mr Yogesh Jitendra Karan, this afternoon received the farewell courtesy call from the outgoing, Ambassador of Japan to Fiji His Excellency Mr. Masahiro Omura.
PS Karan thanked Ambassador Omura for his dedication and contribution towards Fiji’s national development and support for the region’s aspirations.
Ambassador Omura thanked PS Karan for all the support and assistance provided to him during his tenure in Fiji and the excellent partnership between Fiji’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Japan.
He also extended an invitation to the Honourable Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama to attend the Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM 9) and the Summer Olympics next year.
Ambassador Omura will be paying his farewell courtesy call on PM Bainimarama tomorrow.
In its recent assistance to Fiji, to be formalised tomorrow, the Government of Japan will be providing funding worth approximately Three Million Fijian Dollars for rehabilitation of three secondary schools damaged by TC Harold, which will be implemented through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Programme.
Ambassador Omura will formalize Japan’s assistance at a grant contract signing ceremony tomorrow to be held at the Office of the Prime Minister.
