HRH CROWN PRINCESS OF DENMARK TO VISIT FIJI NEXT WEEK

The Fiji Government accorded a traditional welcome ceremony for Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Crown Princess of Denmark Mary Elizabeth and the United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Executive Director, Dr Natalia Kanem in Suva this morning (25/4/23).
Deputy Prime Ministers Hon Manoa Kamikamica, Hon Biman Prasad, and Hon Viliame Gavoka; Attorney-General Hon Siromi Turaga, cabinet ministers, senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corps were also present.
In her remarks, The Crown Princess of Denmark conveyed her appreciation to the Fiji Government and people of Fiji for the kind hospitality accorded to her so far.
UNFPA Executive Director Kanem also thanked the Government and the people of Fiji for the traditional welcome accorded to the delegation.
The Crown Princess and UNFPA Executive Director also paid a courtesy call to the President His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere at the State House.
Later in the afternoon, the delegation left for Vanua Levu to visit Nabavatu village where they will visit communities that have been impacted by climate change.
This visit is also an important step to strengthening Fiji’s partnership with Denmark in collectively addressing the climate crisis by mobilising support for Fiji.
The visit also promotes key development priorities such as the empowerment of women and girls.
