The 12th World Hindi Conference (WHC), co-hosted by the Governments’ of Fiji and India will be held this week from 15 to 17 February 2023, at the Denarau Island Convention Centre in Nadi.
Over 1000 participants including high-level dignitaries, senior government officials, Hindi scholars, academicians, writers, poets, critics, publishers and Hindi lovers from all over the world are expected to join the conference, which is the most prestigious international event on the Hindi language.
The main theme of this year’s conference is “Hindi – Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence”. The first World Hindi Conference was held in 1975 in Nagpur, India. Since then, 11 such conferences have been organised in different parts of the world.
The three days conference in Fiji, will be inaugurated by the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere and India’s External Affairs Minister Honourable Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Minister Jaishankar will also meet with the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka.
This will be a first high-level visit from the Government of India in almost a decade since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Fiji in 2014.
Minister Jaishankar said he looks forward to his first-ever official visit to Fiji, a country with which India shares a special and enduring bond.
He said the Government of India is pleased to co-host the 12th World Hindi Conference in partnership with the Fiji Government.
India and Fiji share close and long-standing ties built on mutual respect, cooperation and strong people-to-people ties.
The modern and multifaceted development partnership between the two countries covers all major areas of nation building including agriculture, education, health, climate change, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief support and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with a special focus on training, capacity building and capability development.
